The author spent most of his life living on these sugar estates in Kwazulu Natal. The author has a passion for nature, environmental education, gardening and angling. He is also a practising visual artist.The author is an educator, and has taught various subjects, from grade 4 to grade 12 in public schools in South Africa for 35 years. His specialist subjects include Geography, Science and Visual art. He has a Master of Education degree specialising in Environmental Education, and he has attended Childrens’ Environmental Conferences in USA and Japan. He has also toured England, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Monaco, Litchenstein, Sri Lanka, Turkey and India. He is presently teaching Science and Visual arts at Tehama International School in Saudi Arabia.
